Jay Bhavani Vadapav History and success story of Managing Director Kishan Singh Rajput

It started with the journey of four brothers. The owners of the fastest growing vadapav brand, “JAY BHAVANI VADAPAV” are originally from Rajasthan. All the 4 brothers came to Ahmedabad way back in 1994. Mr. Kishan is the youngest of all.

During the initial days of 1994, they managed their living by doing odd jobs at Restaurants. They were doing well as far as their job was concerned and continued working for almost 2 years at different restaurants.

In the year 1996 they had huge debts on their head. With the slow pacing growth in job along with huge debts triggered them with the idea of starting their own business. But as their eldest brother underwent losses in his earlier businesses and other brothers also had the same business ordeals, they were quiet reluctant to do it again.

But it was during this time the concept of Vadapav just emerged in Ahmedabad, particularly at Vijay Char Rasta, University etc.

(To quote an incident, we use to visit a stall at University selling Samosa & Kachori. A lorry man started selling vadapav near that stall. That person’s business of Samosa and Kachori almost closed like a magic. He lost all his customers to Vadapav. Actually there was no magic, the concept of Vadapav was new and everyone wanted to try it out.)

The brothers also use to visit his stall to offer help (even did small odd jobs at his stall) and at the same time to have Vadapav. They also use to visit his residence and in the process learned the art of preparing Vadapav.

After Six months of doing odd jobs and learning the art of preparing Vadapav in the year 1997, with the intention to start their own vadapav business they arranged Rs.4500/- with help of one of their cousin brother. Then and there they started first lorry at the parking lot Municipal Market.

Continuing with their jobs all the four brothers managed to run the lorry in different time slots turn by turn. Seeing the business augmenting, they all resigned from their jobs one by one. Within a year they all got involved full time into their own business and became well versed in it.

Business started doing well and they continued the same till 2002.Then the tragedy stuck Ahmedabad in 2002 with Earthquake. Just after the earthquake they winded up their business and along with all family members left for Rajasthan, their native place.

But again after 2 months they all came back to Ahmedabad and started their business at the same place. Business picked up instantly and much better than before.

In 2004 started looking out for permanent options for their business out of the parking lot of Municipal market and purchased their very first own shop near GLS college. Like its said God is great, the second gate of GLS college got opened near their outlet and the business boomed with flow of students through the new gate.

Mr.Kishan managed the business very well till 2007. He worked day and night to establish the business. Actually his relationship with students made their business famous.

In the year 2007 when Mr,Kishan went alone opened his own out let at Anandnagar, as the other brothers were quite fearsome for expansion and wanted to focus on the existing business only.

The Anandnagar outlet had started making good business. Once the business stabilized and started making profit, he opened 4 more outlets. (Bopal, Bodakdev, Vastrapur, Gurukul)

Seeing the success, the other brothers started opening new outlets. This helped in exposure of brand Jay Bhavani across the city.

Slowly the number of outlets increased and reached a figure of 13 outlets. Till this time, he had no office. All operations were managed from the vehicle only.

Though he had no idea about franchise business, on a trial basis in 2014 he handed over the Palanpur own outlet to a franchise, actually to learn franchise business and extended all support to him for 6 months to run the business.

They received the 2nd franchise inquiry from Patan and went ahead in offering the same.

Then the idea of opening a good office occurred and they opened their new office and had meetings with the franchise at the new office.

By the end of 2014, Mr.Kishan had already invited 15 franchises.

During the last few years Mr.Kishan Rajput has done everything that a professionally managed organization would do for the growth of their Organization.

The result is today Jay Bhavani Vadapav has more than 151 outlets across Gujarat, Bangalore, Mumbai, Udaipur, Delhi and still growing…

1994

4 Rajput brothers come from the “land of Mewars” (Rajasthan) to Ahmedabad in search of livelihood.

1996

Thought to establish Vadapav lorry seeing the emerging craze for vadapav among Amdabadis.

1998

Started their own lorry at Municipal Market with a handful amount of Rs. 4500/- brought as a loan from relative.

1998

Adopted a business strategy and purchased the a competitor’s vadapav business who had opened exactly opposite to their place.

2004

Purchased first owned outlet near GLS college.

2008

Among four brothers, Mr Kishan Singh Rajput opened his own outlet in Anand Nagar, as other brothers were fearsome to expand.

2008

With the bang success of Anad Nagar outlet he open 4 more outlets each at Bopal, Bodakdev, Vastrapur and Gurukul.

2010

Seeing the success, the other brothers started opening new outlets. This helped in exposure of brand Jay Bhavani across the city and the number soon reached to 13.

2014

Handed over the Palanpur outlet to a franchise for the first time. Earlier they had no idea of Franchisee model.

2015

Started receiving more and more inquiries for franchisee. Till now Mr. Kishan had offered 15 franchisee.

2016

Appointed good professional staff to look after the business.

2019

Has reached more than 151 outlets across Gujarat, Bangalore, Mumbai, Udaipur, Delhi, and still growing..

2020

Appointed good professional staff to look after the business.

2021

Now poised for launching in Canada in September 2021.
